#1 Home

Thinking about home. Having rescheduled my flight to India three times in the last 6 months, I am so looking forward to being in India right now. And this has made me think a lot about what makes a place home. What does home mean to our generation that migrates more often than the Arctic Tern (Annual journeys of about 44,100 miles)?

Home is a place where we grow up. Where people know us. Where we don’t feel lost. That corner where we can stretch, let go and feel safe. When away from home, we miss it and when we return, we fit right in. So I wonder what makes a place home?

Familiarity. To me, home is familiarity. You spend long enough time at a place, you grow an attachment with the surroundings. You feel a sense of comfort and belonging. Thats home. Obviously I am more connected to one place over another but that doesn’t make it any less home. Also goes to say that I am in this journey of making as many homes as possible. Cheers to migration & making unfamiliar places home.  Can’t wait to visit the most familiar place and people in the world. INDIA. FAMILY.

What’s home for you? Would love to hear your thoughts.
